Kanpur: The police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a 65-year-old woman, who was strangled to death in her house in Rampur Khas village under the limits of Sachendi police station of the district on March 21.The accused were identified as Kamal Shukla and his aide Vishnu Awasthi, residents of Ram Singh Purwa. SP (rural) Pradyumna Singh said that the murder was committed for monetary gains.The police have also recovered a mobile and gold ear rings belonging to the deceased from the possession of Kamal.Kamal was arrested from Binnaur area of the district while his aide Vishnu was held near Bhimsen railway station on Monday night. “Accused were arrested with the help of electronic surveillance. During interrogation, the two confessed to have killed the woman for money,” said SP (rural) further.Body of Munni Devi, wife of late Om Prakash, was found in her house on March 21. After breaking the doors Muuni was found lying dead.Two minors burnt alive as hut catches fire: Two kids, Mehngu lal (10) and Shatrughan (8) of Fazipur village under Manjhanpur police station of Kaushambi district were burnt alive after their hut caught fire on Tuesday.According to SP Kaushambi, “In the wee hours of Tuesday, their hut caught fire and because of winds, the fire quickly spread. Before the fellow labours could help the fire had engulfed the hut in which two children got trapped and died,” said the official.
