Indore: After receiving poor response to tenders floated offline by Madhya Pradesh State Bamboo Mission (MPSBM) for two of its projects on research into supply and demand of bamboo in and around the state, the department has now issued tenders. The MPSBM needs separate agencies to carry out the two projects. This time through e-tendering we have received six bids for the project of surveying bamboo and its product demands. The first project is for surveying demand for bamboo and its products in Madhya Pradesh, types of demands- domestic, industrial, commercial- and how are they currently being met. Thereafter, inlet and outlet of bamboo in the state will be assessed and lastly, the requirement of bamboo in domestic mandis will be evaluated.“Last time, we did not receive a positive response to the tenders. The survey will be done by analysing demand in major cities of MP- Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur and neighbouring states- Nagpur, Nashik, Ahmadabad and Vadodara.

This time through e-tendering we have received six bids for the project of surveying bamboo and its product demands. The bids are being evaluated on technical grounds and then, they will be evaluated on financial proposals. The entire process will be completed by us by February 26,” MPSBM head BB Singh said. For the second project as well, three bids have been received. This project involves a survey of bamboo supply in state in all forest circles barring Bhopal, where the survey had earlier been carried out by the team.“This survey will mainly encompass how many bamboo trees are grown within the state and to assess if there is deficit supply for bamboos in state and what type of bamboo is being grown here,” Singh added. The bid for this project will also be finalized by month-end and within four months a complete survey report will be prepared to help the state frame its own bamboo policy and strengthen its position in the bamboo trade market.
