INDORE: A six-year-old boy was kidnapped by two persons from a garden near his house in Heera Nagar area on Sunday afternoon.According to the police, the victim Akshat Jain, was playing in the garden with other children when a man reached there and told him that his (Akshat’s) grandmother was calling him. “He wouldn’t have gone with the accused had he not known him,” he said.

As the boy stepped outside the garden, the man walked with him for some distance and then made him sit on a black-coloured bike which was being driven by his accomplice.The duo had travelled some 100 meters when the child started crying. The accused then made a ransom call to his father Rohit and asked him to arrange for Rs 10 lakh. They also said that they would call in the night to provide them more details, the police said.Rohit told TOI that initially he had thought someone was pulling a prank on him. But when he called his wife to find out where Akshat was, he came to know his son was missing. Akshat’s mother and grandparents reached the garden and asked other children about his whereabouts. They told them that he had gone on a bike with some people who had said his grandmother was calling him.After this, Akshat’s parents went to Heera Nagar police station and informed the police about the matter.The police said that the accused had stopped near a house in the colony and made a ransom call from there, which was recorded by CCTV installed inside the house. The CCTV footage showed the accused driving the bike was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans whereas pillion rider was wearing a black T-shirt and black capri pants Around five teams of police officials were looking for the accused in different areas across the city till the time the report was filed. “They have not left the city yet. We are close to arresting the accused. We are concerned about the child and our priority is to find him safe,” Avdhesh Goswami, SP, said.As per the sources, the phone number from which accused had called the child’s father was traced to a house in Vijay Nagar area. A man and woman residing in the house where detained for questioning.Rohit, who owns a grocery store in the locality, told the police that he had ventured into real estate business a few months ago and was going to strike a big deal on Sunday evening. He had also kept a lot of cash at home.“We are investigating various angles,” the SP said.A neighbour, Deepesh Jain, said that the child was familiar with everyone in the locality. “He wouldn’t have gone with the accused had he not known him,” he said.
