Ameerpet-HiTec City metro to serve 4L techies

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metro services from Ameerpet to HiTec city as part of Corridor-3 from Nagole to HiTec city that will begin operations from Wednesday will benefit nearly 4 lakh IT employees. Reddy said, “IT companies have agreed to run the buses from their companies to Metro stations and from the residences of their employees to Metro stations. The Commissioner of Railway Safety has approved the single line method.,” said NV S Reddy.The Ameerpet-HiTec City stretch is 10 km-long with nine stations. We have established an electric charging facility at 12 metro stations and more will come up.”“Once Phase 2 is approved, we will take the Metro rail to the RGI Airport. With Wednesday’s inaugural of this stretch, 56 km of the metro will become operational.

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metro services from Ameerpet to HiTec city as part of Corridor-3 from Nagole to HiTec city that will begin operations from Wednesday will benefit nearly 4 lakh IT employees. Hyderabad Metro Rail MD N V S Reddy told TOI that with the commencement of the new services, initial estimates are that around one lakh new passengers will be added within six months to the existing 1.8 to 1.9 lakh passengers.IT companies are in talks with Metro authorities for running buses to metro stations to ensure first and last mile connectivity. Reddy said, “IT companies have agreed to run the buses from their companies to Metro stations and from the residences of their employees to Metro stations. We are expecting a significant increase in footfall due to this.”He said, “We are using electric vehicles, two wheelers, autos, minivans, and buses. We have established an electric charging facility at 12 metro stations and more will come up.”“Once Phase 2 is approved, we will take the Metro rail to the RGI Airport. For the current stretch of Ameerpet to HiTec city, we have completed certification.“Initially, trains will not stop at a few stations as it will take another two months for completing the reversal mechanism where the train can go and change on to other lanes. The Commissioner of Railway Safety has approved the single line method.,” said NV S Reddy.The Ameerpet-HiTec City stretch is 10 km-long with nine stations. With Wednesday’s inaugural of this stretch, 56 km of the metro will become operational. Officials said the corridor 2 from Jubilee Bus station to MG Bus Station of 10 km will be completed by December 2019.“Initially, trains will run with a frequency of about 12 minutes and the frequency will be increased to 3 minutes gradually,” said Reddy.
