'Amaravati will generate 20L jobs in next 25 yrs'

VIJAYAWADA: The upcoming capital city of Amaravati is likely to create 20 lakh jobs over next 25 years, generating a gross domestic product (GDP) of Rs 2,00,000 crore. Creating a world-class capital city is also part of this endeavour. Though our government spent around Rs 1.1 lakh crore in the last four-and-a-half years, we need to do more. He advised officials to utilize the summit to establish Amaravati as one of the happiest cities in the world encompassing the highest standards of liveability, and infrastructure with a thriving economic environment. So, I am trying to create wealth and distribute it among people to improve their lives.

VIJAYAWADA: The upcoming capital city of Amaravati is likely to create 20 lakh jobs over next 25 years, generating a gross domestic product (GDP) of Rs 2,00,000 crore. The state government has planned to convert Amaravati into a wealth-generating city for the entire state.Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu , who reviewed the arrangements for the proposed Happy Cities summit in Vijayawada from February 13, said every family in the state will stand to benefit from the fruits of economic development in the new capital. “Amaravati will play a key role in providing economic and social wellbeing for its citizens,” Naidu said.In a teleconference on Sunday, Naidu said the aim of conducting global events like Happy Cities summit is to develop the capital city as “one of the happiest cities in the world” and as an international benchmark for the Citizen Happiness Index (CHI) so as to attract investments to the state.“Owing to various reasons, people still remain in poverty in some areas of the state. Though our government spent around Rs 1.1 lakh crore in the last four-and-a-half years, we need to do more. Eradication of poverty will not be possible without the creation of wealth. So, I am trying to create wealth and distribute it among people to improve their lives. Creating a world-class capital city is also part of this endeavour. Amaravati will create wealth for people and the government will distribute it among them,” the CM added.Stating that Amaravati would be the hub of knowledge-based economy and favourable destination for global investors and experts of various fields across the world, Naidu said the capital city would catalyse growth through nine economic thematic cities. “We are creating everything in Amaravati and it will be the destination for people across the world who search for employment and quality education in the future,” he said.People visiting Amaravati have expressed their satisfaction over the pace of construction works, Naidu said, and asked the AP Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) to make the Happy Cities summit a grand success and showcase AP’s strength to the world again. He advised officials to utilize the summit to establish Amaravati as one of the happiest cities in the world encompassing the highest standards of liveability, and infrastructure with a thriving economic environment.
