Prasun Kumar, a Delhi resident who works in Udyog Vihar, said: “The service road is a one-way road. “We have told the contractor that round barriers should not be taken out during the peak hours,” said a senior NHAI official. And this is exactly what happens on the service road of Udyog Vihar Phase 4 Nipoy Raj, a Sector 56 resident, said: “The service road that is next to the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway is completely clogged at any point of the day. The NHAI is replacing the round barriers with crash barriers on the entire expressway stretch. The condition of the road is poor, which slows down traffic in the area. If you don’t find one, then there must be a traffic controller nearby keeping an eye out on the roads.

Drivers violating traffic rules is a common sight in most parts of the country. Get on a road and within seconds, you can spot errant drivers. If you don’t find one, then there must be a traffic controller nearby keeping an eye out on the roads. Even then, driving on the wrong side of the road is very common. And this is exactly what happens on the service road of Udyog Vihar Phase 4 Nipoy Raj, a Sector 56 resident, said: “The service road that is next to the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway is completely clogged at any point of the day. There are hawkers lined up on both sides of the road. There is very little or no space for cars to move around.” Many work in IT companies nearby and most of them say wrong-side driving is a menace on the stretch. Prasun Kumar, a Delhi resident who works in Udyog Vihar, said: “The service road is a one-way road. People have to travel till Sector 17/18 and then take a U-Turn. But what people do is that they travel on the wrong side for about 500m and then take a right turn towards the expressway. This makes the road prone to congestion.”Construction never stops in the area due to which trucks are almost always parked along the road. Deepak Johri, a resident of Delhi who works in Phase 4, said: “A month back, the NHAI had been busy pulling down all round barriers that were placed on the roadside. Now, workers carry out construction all through the day, blocking the passage.”NHAI officials said they have asked the contractor to ensure that the commuters taking the road face less problems. “We have told the contractor that round barriers should not be taken out during the peak hours,” said a senior NHAI official. The NHAI is replacing the round barriers with crash barriers on the entire expressway stretch. The condition of the road is poor, which slows down traffic in the area. Nisha Singh, a resident of Sector 10, said: “The road is in a poor condition because of potholes. I have never seen any pothole being repaired on this stretch.”The road is maintained by the MCEPL , a concessionaire of the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway. “We have carried out all repairs on the expressway. There might be some new potholes that might have emeerged due to rains in the past few months. All such places would be repaired,” said an official from the MCEPL. Gurgaon traffic police has taken note of the area and they have said a policeman would be posted to manage traffic on the stretch.
