Jawan from Faridabad who took part in February 12 operation dies

GURUGRAM: One more Army jawan from Haryana died days after an Army operation in Pulwama, in which he had participated. Sadly, he will return to Faridabad’s Atali village on Wednesday in a body bag. Naik Sandeep Kaliraman, who hailed from Faridabad district, had sustained wounds during an anti-terror operation on February 12 in Pulwama, and succumbed to his injuries at the ICU of the Army hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife and three kids.Sandeep joined the Army in 2005, and was currently posted in 10 PARA, Special Forces. He was injured during an Army encounter in Pulwama, just two days before terrorists attacked a CRPF convoy there on February 14.

He has been to Jammu and Kashmir thrice in the last 13 years, with the latest posting beginning a year ago. He was injured during an Army encounter in Pulwama, just two days before terrorists attacked a CRPF convoy there on February 14. It was also his 33rd birthday. He had suffered four bullet wounds, one each on his neck and an arm, and two in the legs. He was on ventilator for a week when he died.Sandeep’s posting in the troubled state was coming to an end. He was to supposed to return home on February 15 for a month-long leave, after which he was to proceed to a new location. Sadly, he will return to Faridabad’s Atali village on Wednesday in a body bag. The district administration has told the village’s sarpanch, Prahlad, to make arrangements for the last rites to be performed on Wednesday at 3.30pm.Sandeep is survived by his wife Geeta, daughter Lavanya (6) and 2-year-old twin sons Rakshit and Rashit. His father Meinpal is a farmer. The family, including his father, mother, wife and sons, had all rushed to Srinagar to be with him.The news of his death reached the village after the family called Sandeep’s brother Sonu, who was at their Atali home, at around 11am on Tuesday.”Sandeep’s cousin, Jagdish told TOI, “He was in Class VII when another villager from Atali was martyred. After attending his funeral, Sandeep vowed that he too would join the defence forces and serve his country. We have many relatives in the Army, which inspired him further.”
