Burglars break into shop, steal 4,000 two-wheeler batteries

GHAZIABAD: Burglars broke into a shop and stole two-wheeler batteries worth Rs 25 lakh in Kavi Nagar last week. Singh said the miscreants must have brought a truck and took at least three hours to load 4,000 batteries in the vehicle. I had lodged an FIR with Kavi Nagar police at that time as well, but the accused are yet to be caught,” he added.Singh had not replaced the DVR after the August incident. “Five miscreants had attacked me inside my shop in August 2018. Had the police been active in the area, the robbery could have been prevented, he said.Singh also said he had earlier been attacked by robbers in the shop.

The shopkeeper , who was out of the city, came to know about the burglary only after he returned on Sunday.Dhan Singh, a resident of Govindpuram, said he had gone to Muzaffarnagar on February 26 to attend the marriage of his brother.When he returned on Sunday, he found the iron lock of the shop broken and 4,000 batteries missing.“I suspect the role of insiders in the theft, as robbers had full knowledge of my movements,” he added. The shop is located on the ground floor of his house. Singh said the miscreants must have brought a truck and took at least three hours to load 4,000 batteries in the vehicle. Had the police been active in the area, the robbery could have been prevented, he said.Singh also said he had earlier been attacked by robbers in the shop. “Five miscreants had attacked me inside my shop in August 2018. They had even taken the digital video recorder attached with the CCTV cameras at that time, to avoid detection. I had lodged an FIR with Kavi Nagar police at that time as well, but the accused are yet to be caught,” he added.Singh had not replaced the DVR after the August incident. Notably, his brother Rahul Kumar’s car was also stolen from near the district collectorate a month ago.Kavi Nagar SHO Raj Kumar Sharma said an FIR for theft has been registered in the case and further investigation is going on.
