Dinesh Chandra is GMC’s new municipal commissioner

GHAZIABAD: Dinesh Chandra on Monday assumed the charge of new municipal commissioner of Ghaziabad Municipal Commissioner( GMC ). He replaces CP Singh who has been made the district magistrate of Kasganj.Chandra, while speaking to TOI, said his top most priority will be find an amicable solution to waste dumping issue. Before this, Chandra held the post of chief development officer of Aligarh. He took over the reins of CDO in Aligarh in May 2017 before being transferred to Ghaziabad. Earlier, all attempts by GMC to dump waste at different places have been met with opposition from residents.In Swachh Survekshan 2018 , Ghaziabad was adjudged fastest moving big city moving up to Rank 36 from the previous 351, in 2017.

He replaces CP Singh who has been made the district magistrate of Kasganj.Chandra, while speaking to TOI, said his top most priority will be find an amicable solution to waste dumping issue. “I have been apprised by my predecessor of the problem GMC is facing in dumping civic waste after NGT committee barred corporation from dumping waste at Pratap Vihar landfill site.”“Till the time Galand waste to energy plant is ready, we will have to dispose of civic waste at designated landfill site and I hope that we will get the cooperation of residents,” added Chandra. Earlier, all attempts by GMC to dump waste at different places have been met with opposition from residents.In Swachh Survekshan 2018 , Ghaziabad was adjudged fastest moving big city moving up to Rank 36 from the previous 351, in 2017. “The Swachh Survey for 2019 has already been done, but I hope that Ghaziabad repeats the feat this year as well,” said Chandra.Chandra (53), a 1997 batch PCS officer, was promoted to IAS in 2018 in his 19 years of service, has held posts of additional commissioner, ADM(E), city magistrate in Saharanpur, Meerut, Prayagraj in UP’s 16 districts in different capacities. He took over the reins of CDO in Aligarh in May 2017 before being transferred to Ghaziabad.
