Sedition case on 3 brothers for ‘anti-India’ slogans

GHAZIABAD: Three brothers were booked for sedition after they allegedly raised anti-India slogans in Loni area of Ghaziabad on Saturday. The trio were booked on a complaint by a trader, who accused them of beating him up too. Police said the accused are brothers and own shops in Loni market. The other two brothers backed him, Kumar alleged. “I asked them not to say such things in public, but they wouldn’t stop,” the trader said.“When I tried to stop them, they started beating me with a stick.

The trio were booked on a complaint by a trader, who accused them of beating him up too. Police said the accused are brothers and own shops in Loni market. They also live in nearby colonies.Sushil Kumar, who also has a general store in the locality, said the three brothers were watching videos on YouTube that glorified Pakistan Kumar claimed he was on his way to a friend’s house for some work when one of the brothers saw him and started raising anti-India slogans. The other two brothers backed him, Kumar alleged. “I asked them not to say such things in public, but they wouldn’t stop,” the trader said.“When I tried to stop them, they started beating me with a stick. One of them attacked me on the head with a pair of scissors. They also took Rs 5,000 from my pocket when I fell to the ground,” Kumar said.Raj Kumar Pandey, the circle officer of Loni, said that on the basis of a complaint by Kumar, an FIR had been registered against the three brothers under sections 124A (sedition), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 394 (voluntary causing hurt in committing robbery) of the IPC.
