Metro rail safety commissioner clears Dilshad Garden-New Bus Adda line

GHAZIABAD: The Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) SK Pathak has accorded the mandatory approval for the commencement of passenger operations on the 9.41 km long Dilshad Garden - New Bus Adda section of the Red Line of Delhi Metro . This comes a day after CMRS conducted an inspection of the corridor.“The CMRS on Wednesday has given clearance for commencing passenger operations on Dilshad Garden-New Bus Adda metro line with some stipulation” said Anuj Dayal, chief public relations officer, DMRC. The 9.41 Km route length is entirely on an elevated platform having eight stations in Ghaziabad namely Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala, Hindon river and Ghaziabad New Bus Adda. Final completion cost of the project has been pegged at Rs 1781.21 crore. “The specifications suggested by CMRS will take some time to comply and after that the corridor will be ready for commissioning” added Dayal.The GDA and district administration is so far tight lipped on inauguration date.

This comes a day after CMRS conducted an inspection of the corridor.“The CMRS on Wednesday has given clearance for commencing passenger operations on Dilshad Garden-New Bus Adda metro line with some stipulation” said Anuj Dayal, chief public relations officer, DMRC. “The specifications suggested by CMRS will take some time to comply and after that the corridor will be ready for commissioning” added Dayal.The GDA and district administration is so far tight lipped on inauguration date. “We will apprise the state government that the corridor is ready and it is for them to announce a date for its inauguration” said a GDA official.A senior officials from administration said that they would ideally want inauguration of Dilshad Garden - New Bus Adda section corridor to clubbed with the opening of civilian airport at Hindon Air Base. “We are given to understand that either chief minister or even prime minister could inaugurate the corridor but final decision is to be conveyed to us by the state government” said an official from administration. “Since work on civilian airport at Hindon Air Base is expected to be over by February 15 there would be no problem inaugurating the two projects on the same day” added the official.It was in June 2014 that GDA and DMRC signed MoU for the extension of the presently operational Rithala – Dilshad Garden to New Bus Adda in Ghaziabad. The 9.41 Km route length is entirely on an elevated platform having eight stations in Ghaziabad namely Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala, Hindon river and Ghaziabad New Bus Adda. All along 9.41 KM about 400 pillars have been erected at a height between 10m to 12m from ground.The trial on this corridor was started by DMRC in August last year and PIB approval for the project came in December. Final completion cost of the project has been pegged at Rs 1781.21 crore.
