Five mobile snatchers held in Ghaziabad

GHAZIABAD: Five members of an alleged mobile-snatching gang were arrested on Tuesday night from Avantika Road in Kavi Nagar. At least 25 stolen mobile phones were recovered from them.The five men used to snatch mobile phones from pedestrians while roaming on streets on motorcycles and then sell them on an online marketplace after changing their IMEI numbers. Their area of operation was limited to Kavi Nagar, Sihani Gate, Indirapuram and Mohan Nagar.The arrested persons have been identified as Manoj from Nandgram, Shahbaz and Asif, both residents of Hindon Vihar, Sahim from Kaila Bhatta and Raju, a resident of Shibban Pura.SP (city) Shlok Kumar said, “The accused also used to sell the spare parts of the phone through Sahim’s shop in Kaila Bhatta.”
