Dehradun: Most Congress leaders contesting elections this time recorded an increase in their moveable as well as immoveable assets, according to their nomination documents filed on Monday. However, senior leader and former CM Harish Rawat who is contesting from Nainital, claimed a dip in his assets.The moveable and immovable assets of Harish Rawat and his wife were Rs 6.31 crore in 2017 which have come down to Rs 5.59 crore in 2019. Rawat’s own moveable assets were Rs 1.79 crore which in a period of two years went down to Rs 1.29 crore in 2019.His immovable assets registered a marginal increase from Rs 35 lakh in 2017 to Rs 36 lakh in 2019. Pension a ex-Member of Parliament has been shown as his main source of income.In case of Congress state chief Pritam Singh who is contesting from Tehri, his moveable assets have gone up from Rs 99.83 lakh in 2017 to Rs 1.39 crore in 2019. The moveable assets of his wife remained the same at Rs 1.58 crore. While Pritam has Rs 2.78 lakh cash in hand, over Rs 33 lakh is deposited in his bank accounts. His immovable assets which were worth Rs 3.66 crore, according to his affidavit in 2017assembly elections, are now worth Rs 4.27 crore. His wife has immovable assets of Rs 2.13 crore. Allowances as an MLA, rent, bank interest and agricultural earnings are major sources of income for Singh.Manish Khanduri, the son of former CM and five-time MP Major Gen (retd) B C Khanduri, who is a new entrant in the field of politics and fighting the polls from Pauri, has shown his total annual income in tax return as Rs 8.45 lakh, which was Rs 13.29 lakh in 2014-15. With Rs 46,000 cash in hand and Rs 30 lakh invested in 1 kg of gold, he has moveable assets worth Rs 1.13 crore and his wife has moveable assets worth Rs 75.37 lakh. The total worth of his immovable assets is Rs 5.63 crore and his wife has immovable assets of Rs 43 lakh.While the moveable assets of Congress nominee for Almora constituency Pradeep Tamta have increased by Rs 7.27 lakh in the last five years, his total immovable assets have remained the same. As per the nomination documents filed by Tamta, currently a Rajya Sabha member, his total income shown in tax return is Rs 6.05 lakh per annum, which was 6.01 lakh in the affidavit filed in 2014 elections.Pradeep Tamta has Rs 50,000 in cash and his wife Renu has Rs 20,000 cash in hand. Neither Tamta nor his wife own a vehicle. While Tamta has jewellery worth Rs 76,752, his wife has gold ornaments worth Rs 7.99 lakh and silver worth Rs 86,000. The total moveable assets of Pradeep Tamta are worth Rs 22.14 lakh, and his wife has moveable assets worth Rs 27.93 lakh. There has been no change in the immovable assets of Pradeep Tamta, which are worth Rs 5.51 lakh at present, whereas immovable property with his wife is worth Rs 70 lakh.
