LS polls: 101 candidates in the fray in Salem region

The ROs in each constituency scrutinized the nomination papers and rejected unfilled and semi-furnished nomination papers while a few of candidates withdrew their nominations. On Friday, district collectors cum returning officers scrutinized the nomination papers and came up with final lists. Salem/Erode: A total of 101 candidates will fight in the Lok Sabha elections for the five constituencies in the Salem region — Salem, Namakkal While twenty-two candidates will face each other in Salem constituency, it is 29 from Namakkal, 15 each from Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri and 20 candidates from Erode constituency, according to the final list of candidates released by respective district administrations.Earlier, a total of 197 candidates 47 from Salem, 46 from Namakkal, 35 from Dharmapuri, 35 from Krishnagiri and 34 from Erode - had filed their nominationsA total of 101 candidates from all the major political parties and also the Independent candidates have been on the final list to face the upcoming Parliamentary election in Salem region including Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Erode constituencies.
