TN transport corpns to operate addl bus services

CHENNAI: Various state-owned transport corporations in Tamil Nadu will operate 400 additional bus services during the poll week. "This will help voters from other districts (currently residing in Chennai) to easily reach their native places," said a senior Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation official.Besides this, State Express Transport Corporation is planning to operate 50 additional airconditioned bus this summer.At present, over 1,200 buses are operated by the corporation across Tamil Nadu. Lok Sabha elections will be held in the state on April 18.These buses will depart from Koyambedu and Perungaluthur in Chennai to various districts across the state. "In response, a proposal has been made to add 50 additional A/C buses and all of them will be long-distance services," said a senior SETC official. The buses will be equipped with berths.A formal announcement would be made soon, the official added.

The buses will be equipped with berths.A formal announcement would be made soon, the official added.
