Class X students sweat it out at exam halls

CHENNAI: Apart from exam stress, Class X state board students must also put up with extreme temperature as the government is conducting the exams from 2 pm to 5 pm. Students in Chennai, particularly those taking trains and buses, found it difficult to reach their centres in the scorching heat. "In response, a senior official from Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations ( TNDGE ) said exams were conducted in the afternoon because Class XI board exams were scheduled in the forenoon. Many students found them difficult," said a government school teacher from Porur.In a related development, the annual exams for state board students of classes I to IX will begin on April 1. TN goes to the polls on April 18.VC Rameswaramurugan, director of the state school education department, had sent a letter to all the chief educational officers (CEOs) in connection with this on Thursday.
