Bhopal: A local court on Monday rejected the anticipatory bail application filed by Congress leader and leader of opposition in Bhopal Municipal Corporation Mohammed Sageer. A rape case has been filed against Sageer on the complaint filed by a 35-year-old married woman at Koh-e-Fiza police station.Sageer's counsel filed the bail petition before the court of ADJ Kumudini Patel. His counsel argued before the court that Sageer was innocent and was implicated. The prosecution counsel argued that the matter is serious and there were chances that if Sageer's bail is approved by court he may pressurise the survivor. He alleged that some BMC officials were also behind the woman in a bid to malign him and settle scores with him. So, his petition should be rejected.ADJ Patel after hearing the arguments rejected the anticipatory bail petition terming it to a serious nature crime.Earlier, the complainant told police that the accused after promising her a house under government scheme took her to an isolated place and raped her.
