BENGALURU: To give Karnataka tourism a boost, the government has decided to incentivise eight movies of any language that showcase the state’s prominent locations.The cabinet meeting which met on Wednesday approved the scheme mooted by the tourism department, allocating Rs 12.5 crore for the year.The state government has capped the incentive under Class A (funds up to Rs 2.5 crore) for three movies and Class B for five films (up to Rs 1 crore). The classification is based on the points scored by film producers depending on the budget of the movie, duration of footage and details used to highlight the state’s culture and tourism facilities.The government has placed a minimum cap of featuring no less than three of the 319 tourist locations in the movie, as listed in the State Tourism Policy of 2015-2020, for winning the incentive.“This incentive is meant to promote the state’s tourism spots across the globe.
