BENGALURU: After all the brouhaha, BS Yeddyurappa, state BJP president and opposition leader in the legislative assembly, has decided to take possession of government bungalow No 4.Yeddyurappa had refused to accept the bungalow allotted to him in July after he was denied his ‘lucky’ bungalow No 2 on Race Course Road in Bengaluru. Since then, he has been working from his Dollar’s Colony residence in RMV Second Stage. After he stepped down as CM and took charge as opposition leader in May, Yeddyurappa had set his sights on bungalow No 2. He considers it lucky since it propelled him to the CM’s chair in 2008 after having occupied the residence for two years as deputy chief minister from 2006. Yeddyurappa had renovated the house by annexing the adjacent official residence of then medical education minister Ramachandra Gowda. He also made it Vaastu-compliant.However, earlier this year, the department of personnel and administrative reforms (DPAR) rejected his appeal for bungalow No 2 as it had already been allotted to tourism minister Sa Ra Mahesh.Embarrassed by this, the former CM had hit out at chief minister Kumaraswamy saying: “The CM is not obliging my request to allot bungalow No 2. So I will not take up government quarters from now. I will stay at my private residence in Dollars Colony till I get it (bungalow No 2).”However, Yeddyurappa’s office is said to have filed a fresh application last month to secure bungalow No 4 after it was vacated by party colleague DH Shankar murthy. The former legislative council chairman had occupied the house for more than eight years.
