Another newborn girl found abandoned in Shahjahanpur, dies

Shahjahanpur: A newborn girl was found abandoned in Bhagwanpur village of Kalaan block of Shahjahanpur district on Sunday but she died in hospital later in the evening. The autopsy report confirmed that the baby died of lung infection.This is the third such incident of newborn girls being abandoned in the past three months in the district. We have filed an FIR against her unidentified parents.” She was kept inside the bag for several hours due to which she was infected with septicemia and died due to infection in her lungs.”Additional superintendent of police (rural) SC Shakya told TOI, "After getting information about the abandoned newborn girl, police immediately took her to hospital but she did not survive. The infant was found alive inside a bag in an agriculture field and she was immediately rushed to the nearby government primary health centre (PHC) which referred the baby to a higher centre in Shahjahanpur district headquarters where she died in the evening.

The autopsy report confirmed that the baby died of lung infection.This is the third such incident of newborn girls being abandoned in the past three months in the district. Of these, only one that was buried alive survived miraculously.An FIR has been registered against her unidentified parents under IPC section 317 (exposure and abandonment of child under 12 years, by parents or the person taking care of it) at Kalaan police station on Sunday. Section 304 (causing death by negligence) of IPC would be incorporated in the FIR on the basis of autopsy report, said police.Dr SC Joshi, a member of the autopsy team, told TOI, "The baby was possibly delivered on Saturday.
