On Sunday, one of the children in his house was being chased by dogs. “The child ran inside and the dogs attacked a 4-month-old goat tied in front of the house which has sustained injuries,” said Pathan.The farmer took his injured goat to the AMC office on Monday evening. Pathan met additional municipal commissioner Nandkishore Bhombe and complained about the rising menace of stray dogs in the area. “Earlier, the dogs damaged our wheat and jowar crops and the losses were somewhere around Rs 5,000,” said Pathan.S Bhale, a local in the area, had a bull which was bitten by dogs and succumbed a few weeks ago.Activist Ayyub Patel said that the area did not have the stray dog problem until a year ago. “The dogs have started thriving at the site where the municipal corporation dumps waste. It is not at all safe for farmers and poor people to stay outdoors at night. Many dog bite cases from the area have been reported to the Government Medical College and Hospital and representations have been made to the AMC but to no avail,” said Patel.People want AMC to shut the dumping site as the civic administration has not been able to keep stray dogs away from the site. The waste dumped in the open attracts dogs easily.Bhombe assured that action would be taken to control the dog menace in the area.
