AJMER: The high commissioner of Pakistan Sohail Mahmood said that his country will continue to allow religious delegations from India to Pakistan under the protocol for visits to Religious Shrines-1974, while he offered a chadar at the holy shrine of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz in Ajmer on Saturday.He said, “Every year, Pakistani delegation attends the annual Urs in Ajmer. They bring the official chadar to the dargah . But, this time, there was no delegation so I brought the chadar on behalf of our government and citizens.” Due to the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, the delegation from Pakistan didn't come this year to attend Urs.He opined that a delegation from Pakistan should be allowed in future to attend the annual Urs in Ajmer. Highlighting the importance of the Sufi shrines, Mahmood told mediapersons that Sufi saints like Khwaja Ghareeb Nawaz, Hazrat Baba Farid and Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia formed an eternal bond between the people of Pakistan and India.At the dargah, Mahmood was greeted by khadim Syed Bilal Chishti and Syed Natiq Chishti, who offered prayers on his behalf inside the shrine. “The exchange of people from both sides has always been a biggest confidence-building measure and the opening of Kartarpur corridor will renew ties between the two nations,” said Mahmood, while he advocated that visas to devotees should be given with ease.He reiterated that the message of Sufi saints would continue to serve as a guiding light in tackling present-day challenges.“It will also help develop a relationship based on better mutual understanding,” said Mahmood.
