Robbers loot Rs 10 lakh, revolver from a car parked near hotel in Ajmer

Police said the car belonged to one Vijay Trivedi, a businessman, who had stopped over at the hotel to meet his friend, the hotel’s owner. Sources said Rs 10 crore have been invested to install CCTV cameras around the city. Police, however, said that most of their force is engaged in managing security for the Urs at the dargah. But the investment is apparently bearing no fruit.There was anger among the businessmen and shopkeepers and they demanded to increase security measures in the city. He claimed that he was taking the cash to deposit in the bank and also had a licensed revolver, which he was going to deposit at the police station.

AJMER: A group of masked robbers decamped with Rs 10 lakh cash and a licensed revolver from a car parked near a hotel on Jaipur Road here, after breaking the window of the car, on Friday.The CCTV cameras at Abhya Command Kendra, installed under smart city project, failed to capture the accused, but the CCTV of the hotel showed the incident.Police on getting the information, reached the hotel situated across Power House on Jaipur Road and found that about five to seven youths, gathered near the car at 11.54am and one of them broke the glass with a slingshot and another went inside and took out the bag containing cash and a gun. Police said the car belonged to one Vijay Trivedi, a businessman, who had stopped over at the hotel to meet his friend, the hotel’s owner. He claimed that he was taking the cash to deposit in the bank and also had a licensed revolver, which he was going to deposit at the police station. Police said they are investigating the matter and are trying to identify the accused. This is the second incident of loot in a month in the area. The above incident happened just 50 metres away from the place where on February 21, two masked youths entered money exchange office and looted Rs five lakh, after killing the owner. Police, after more than 20 days, are unable to identify the accused. Sources said Rs 10 crore have been invested to install CCTV cameras around the city.
