As many as eight to nine sitting Bharatiya Janata Party members of the Parliament from Gujarat may be removed this time. The party's Parliamentary board has analysed the performance of these MPs in the past term and have decided to replace the candidates. The party's state-level Parliamentary board meeting concluded on Tuesday afternoon, but discussions ended only later in the evening. The discussion over candidate selection for four Lok Sabha seats; Rajkot, Porbandar, Kutch, and Amreli concluded by 2:30pm. Later, the leaders talked about finalising the panel so as to propose the same before the central Parliamentary board of the party. A senior leader of the party, who is one of the members in the board said, "We discussed the performance of sitting MPs and their relevance in their territory. The board has concluded that there are at least eight to 10 members who failed to meet the expectations of both the voters and the party. They may not get ticket as we have prepared the report accordingly that will be submitted to our central parliamentary board." The MPs who may be shown the exit door include LK Advani from Gandhinagar, Paresh Raval from Ahmedabad East, Dr Kirit Solanki from Ahmedabad West, KC Patel from Valsad, Naran Kachhadia from Amreli, Vitthal Radadia from Porbandar, Prabhatsinh Chauhan from Panch Mahals, Dipsinh Rathod from Sabarkantha, Leeladhar Vaghela from Patan, and Mansukh Vasava from Bharuch. The sitting MPs have also proposed before the state leadership that if they were not under consideration, someone from their family or supporters should get the ticket, but the party leaders in the state have not accepted that formula, said the leader. "There are some sitting MPs who have demanded ticket for family members such as wife or children but there is no scope to accept their proposals. It has also become necessary for us the change the faces this time, looking at the current political situation," the leader further added. Party leaders also prepared the panel considering the caste equation that has to be a balanced and considerable representation to women leaders. There is a possibility that at least five tickets out of 26 will go to women candidates.
