Basic edu dept sends wrong data to govt on kids out of school

Agra: The basic education department had sent a wrong report to the state government concerning out-of-school children in Agra district. I am trying to figure out how a report of 284 children was sent to the state government. The matter came to the fore after directorate, basic education released a district-wise list of the out-of-school children.To increase enrollments in state government-run primary schools, the basic education department had launched a special programme, “Sharda- School Har Din Ayein”. They have been instructed to take personal interest in their enrolment in the new academic session.BSA Anand Prakash Sharma said, “There are more than 1,500 out-of-school children in the district. Just 10 children, the least, were identified as out of school in Chitrakoot district.

Agra: The basic education department had sent a wrong report to the state government concerning out-of-school children in Agra district. A survey conducted by the department had found that more than 1,500 students were not enrolled in any primary schools in 15 blocks of the district. But the state government was informed that only 284 children needed to be enrolled. The matter came to the fore after directorate, basic education released a district-wise list of the out-of-school children.To increase enrollments in state government-run primary schools, the basic education department had launched a special programme, “Sharda- School Har Din Ayein”. For this, details were sought from all districts regarding children between six and 14 years old who were not enrolled in schools and had no access to primary education.A total of 90,888 out-of-school children were identified in all the 75 districts of the state. Out of these, 47,805 are boys and 43,083 are girls. The maximum number of children not going to school were identified in Aligarh district. Here 12,000 children were found to be not enrolled in any school. Just 10 children, the least, were identified as out of school in Chitrakoot district. In Agra, 284 children were shown as not going to school.On March 27, director basic education issued a letter to basic shiksha adhikari (BSA) stating that the work for identification of out-of-school children was not done properly.Now, BSAs have been directed to provide correct details of children not going to school. They have been instructed to take personal interest in their enrolment in the new academic session.BSA Anand Prakash Sharma said, “There are more than 1,500 out-of-school children in the district. We had conducted a survey in this regard. I am trying to figure out how a report of 284 children was sent to the state government. Soon, a revised report will be sent to the state government.”
