The civic body’s tax collection section will be open on Sunday while Saturday is a working day, officials said.According to civic body officials, from Monday onwards, legal proceedings will be initiated against major defaulters, including hotels, nursing homes, marriage houses and guest houses.Last year, the state government had directed municipal corporations to become self-reliant by increasing overall revenue generation and spending funds accordingly. Required efforts are being made to recover remaining Rs 5 crore over the next two days.Municipal commissioner Arun Prakash said, “We are making all possible efforts to ensure the target assigned by the municipal board is achieved. In the last two days, we have had defaulters queuing up to pay their house tax dues. Major defaulters are being warned of legal action against them after March 31.We have significantly improved tax collection.
