Candidates to submit nominations under CCTV surveillance

Agra: The entire nomination process for Lok Sabha election, starting on March 19, will be conducted under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. Besides, adequate arrangement for security and fire safety services will be made.”The nomination process will start on March 19 and end on March 26. The collectorate was barricaded, making a direct route for candidates to reach the nomination rooms. After that, the final list of candidates will be announced. On March 29, candidates will have a chance to withdraw their names.

The collectorate was barricaded, making a direct route for candidates to reach the nomination rooms. Candidates from the Agra seat will file their nominations in the court of additional district magistrate (finance and revenue) Ramesh Chandra, while those from Fatehpur Sikri seat will file theirs in the court of district magistrate NG Ravi Kumar.Assistant district election officer Bharat Singh said, “For the nomination process starting on Tuesday, CCTV cameras will be placed inside the collectorate premises and on the main gate. Besides, adequate arrangement for security and fire safety services will be made.”The nomination process will start on March 19 and end on March 26. The candidates will get only five days to file nominations this year, March 20 and 21 being holidays on account of Holi and March 24 being a Sunday.So far, no political party has formally declared a candidate for either of the two seats in Agra district. Major parties are likely to delay declaration of candidates, which in turn may cause a rush in the filing of nominations in the last couple of days.On March 27 and 28, the returning officers will check the nomination forms submitted by candidates. On March 29, candidates will have a chance to withdraw their names. After that, the final list of candidates will be announced.
