BSP announces six more candidates

The Bahujan Samaj Party on Thursday released its 11th list of candidates for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh. While announcing the names of six candidates for the Lok Sabha polls, the BSP has also named its candidate for the by-election to Lucknow East assembly seat. The party has given its ticket to Alok Kushwaha while Narendra Pandey has been made the party candidate from Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seat. The BSP has given its tickets to Saurabh Kumar Mishra from Gonda, Mohammad Nadeem Mirza from Domariyaganj, Narendra Pandey from Kaiserganj, Nadeem Ashraf from Sant Kabir Nagar, Shiv Kumar Dohre from Barabanki and Mashood Ahmed from Azamgarh. BSP supremo Mayawati has changed the partys candidate from Azamgarh for the third time. Earlier, former BSP state president Bhim Rajbhar was fielded from Azamgarh. He was later shifted to Salempur and Sabiha Ansari was given the ticket. Now Mashood Ahmed will be the party candidate from Azamgarh. Recently, Mayawati had released a list of 10 candidates for the Lok Sabha polls in which she announced the names of candidates for Amethi, Jhansi, Pratapgarh constituencies. She replaced Amethi candidate Ravi Prakash Maurya with Nanhe Singh Chauhan. Ravi Prakash Kushwaha has been fielded from Jhansi and Prathamesh Mishra from Pratapgarh. The BSP has also announced its candidate from Rae Bareli. It is fielding Thakur Prasad Yadav from this key constituency. The Bharatiya Janata Party has given its ticket for the Rae Bareli Lok Sabha seat to Dinesh Pratap Singh but the Congress is yet to announce its candidates for this seat. Polling will be held in Rae Bareli on May 20 and the last date for filing nomination is May 3. There is speculation that after Sonia Gandhi became a Rajya Sabha member from Rajasthan, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra may contest from Rae Bareli.
